LAO courthouse staff services are also now available at the Guelph courthouse at 36
Wyndham Street on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Thursdays,
LAO staff will be available in the courthouse at 74 Woolwich Street.

  • If you need a private lawyer but cannot afford to pay for one, Legal Aid may be able to help by granting a Legal Aid Certificate to cover all or part of your legal costs. To qualify, you must be on Ontario Works (OW) or Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) or have low income. If your legal case is the kind that fits with Legal Aid and your income and assets are below a certain level, Legal Aid will give you a certificate to pay for a lawyer. Legal Aid will provide you with a list of lawyers who may accept the certificate.
  • If you are denied a Legal Aid certificate, contact the Legal Clinic for further advice. You may appeal to the Area Committee and to the Appeals Department of the Provincial Office.

ARCH Disability Law Centre
