National Housing Day

Every November we recognize National Housing Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about housing and homelessness.

This year the Legal Clinic of Guelph and Wellington County is hosting a screening of Bridging Divides: Voices and Visions about Homelessness in Mid-size Cities at the Norgan Theatre in Palmerston.

The documentary came out of a 4 year project with researchers from Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Guelph, and York university and included 10 academic researchers and 3 lived expert co-researchers to put it together. We focused this project on mid-size cities because most conversation on homelessness comes from major urban centres like Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. Over the last few years, many mid-size cities have seen visible homelessness for the first time with concerns about how to address it.

Following the screening there will be a panel Q&A session with local experts. We know homelessness isn’t limited to urban centres, let’s have a conversation about the reality of rural homelessness.
