Consumer Protection Branch Government of Ontario
The Consumer Protection Branch answers questions and mediates complaints between consumers and businesses (apart from complaints against utility companies, such as cable, gas, hydro or phone). Their website includes many resources for consumers who feel they have been treated unfairly.
Ontario Energy Board
The OEB provides information and guidelines regarding all utilities and deals with issues that fall under the Energy Consumer Protection Act. OEB offers online price comparisons, tip sheets, energy contract disclosure statements and links to resources.
National Do Not Call List
The National Do Not Call List has been set up to prevent unwanted telephone calls. To register your number, call or register online. In order to register by telephone, you must call from the telephone number you wish to register.
Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission
Provides information and receives complaints about cable or telephone bills.
Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO)
Call TICO about complaints about travel agents and/or travel wholesalers.
Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC)
Provides information and receives complaints from consumers about new/used vehicle dealerships or to report an illegal car sale.
